On Friday 29 October 2010 saw over 60 Volvo’s take on the roads from all over South Africa to attend the 2010 National Saamtrek that was held at Aldam Estate from 29 to 31 October 2010. 63 members registered for the Saamtrek and 56 members attended the AGM, numbers certainly were up from last year.
A very successful bring and braai was held at our new venue and the ladies sat around and kuiered on a lovely summer evening whilst the manne were at the fires, having a cold one, turning the meat…and the normal Volvo chatter, tummies full, heads full of Volvo tips….we retired for the evening. Early Saturday morning you could hear the splatter of water whilst the guys cleaned up their Volvos for the photo shoot, this year Andre, Leon and Howard did a still photo and a “running” one, the overall result amazing photos!
At 10h00 56 members attended that AGM and it went smoothly and some of the important aspects that came out of the meeting was that the finances looked healthy, subs for the new year remain at R200, members will receive committee meeting minutes to keep them updated with the decisions and running of the club, members at 163 for the year, the committee was unanimously reelected and all in all a very positive meeting.
12h30 the concourse judging started and what a great venue, enough shade for the Volvo’s on display and lovely lawn to just sit and relax and even a view over the Dam. This while the ladies played Bingo, had a few and even tried their hand at some Karoake. Then came the prize giving dinner which went of without a hitch and some great prizes were won, great hand outs and lucky draws. REMEMBER TO CHECK our sponsors page for all those that contributed to the Saamtrek.
And that in short is the update on the 2010 Saamtrek, be sure not to miss your next newsletter which will be a bumper issue.
